A role within the South Africa Data Delivery (SA DD) Team, focused on extracting data from various ERP systems (like SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle) to support the Assurance business. The Data Engineer constructs extraction scripts, works closely with Data Delivery Specialists, and stays updated on digital solutions and market developments to enable core digital analytical tools.

Responsibilities

• Extract data from ERP systems for the South Africa Assurance business and share it with Data Analysts
• Construct scripts for data extraction to feed core digital analytical tools
• Work closely with the Data Delivery Specialist
• Participate in the SA DD Team's learning and sharing initiatives
• Stay updated on EY's digital solutions and market developments relevant to data extraction
• Support reactive and proactive projects to drive demand and improve service delivery

Qualifications

• Experience: 1 to 2 years of relevant work experience
• Technical Skills:
• Strong understanding of IT environments, security, networking, and server architecture
• Proven experience in data extraction
• Strong knowledge of reporting packages (eg, Business Objects) and databases (SQL)
• Working experience in one or more ERPs (SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, AccPac, Navision, Sage)
• Knowledge of common data tooling (Microsoft Excel, Access, SQL Server)
• Advantageous: Experience with SpotFire, Power BI, Python, and Alteryx
• Professional Skills: Good problem-solving and interpersonal skills, deadline-oriented, and ability to prioritize work
• Industry Experience: Experience in external audit or a professional services firm is a positive
